What Really Happened?

Numerous UFO sightings have been reported in the past from every continent in the world to include the recent sighting over Baotou, China Airport.  Many of these documented sightings have been staged or they simply did not give enough evidence of an extraterrestrial presence.  With today’s computer programs, digital editing and photo modification allows just about anything to happen.  However, what happens when these events take place before the advancement of that technology?  How do you explain a complete malfunction of a nuclear missile defense system without any signs of tampering?  Well,

Armed with declassified documents and vivid details, a group of former Air Force officers gathered Monday to go public with an assertion they have kept mostly under wraps for decades: that UFOs visited the bases they were stationed at and caused nuclear weapon system to temporarily malfunction, according to Military Times .  The group, which was convened by UFO researcher Robert Hastings, came to the National Press Club in Washington to give individual testimony and ask the government to confess about the aerial phenomenon that was occurring at Malmstrom Air Force Base, Montana.

Former First Lieutenant Robert Salas, one of the former Air Force officers during the phenomena, explains what he and many other witnesses observed on March 16th, 1967. Sixty feet below the surface, Salas reported that he was working a 24-hour shift as the missile control officer at Malmstrom AFB which housed 10 nuclear Minuteman missiles. During his shift, he has received a phone call from the topside guard who stated they were observing strange, red glowing lights in the sky that were making maneuvers that were too complex for U.S. aircraft.

A few minutes later, Salas received another phone call from the topside guard, who was now screaming into the phone that one of the objects, which was described as oval shaped, was hovering over the front gate of the facility at approximately 30 to 40 feet and that his men had their weapons fixated on the object. The guards then asked Salas what their orders were since UFO encounters were nowhere to be found in the Standard Operating Procedures. Salas did what every officer or sergeant of the guard would have said and done; stand your ground. Their mission was to protect the life and property of Malmstrom AFB and that is what Salas expected his men to do.

Salas began to pass on the information to his duty partner, First Lieutenant Fred Meiwald, and report the encounter to the commander when all of a sudden, a chilling sound echoed in the enclosed structure. Numerous alarms and random displays began to show that the missiles were being set from “armed” to “disarmed”. Salas immediately began a systems checklist to determine if a power failure had occurred. Salas also confirmed with the launch control facility that there had been numerous security breaches, however, the source could not be found. During this incident, Captain Eric Carlson, the Missile Crew Commander and First Lieutenant Walt Figel, the Deputy Missile Crew Commander, began receiving the alarms that the missiles started going offline. However, during an interview by Ryan Dube of RealityUncovered.net , Carlson stated that there were no reports of UFO’s.

Carlson stated that there were no reports given of UFO’s during that day, however, there were reports that silos E-2 thru E-11 had gone into no-go status.  Carlson recalls that both Lt. Figel and he were busy completing their checklists, which included calls to the wing command post and maintenance control.  Carlson also received a call from SAC headquarters, whose main concern was knowing that there wasn’t a potential for a premature launch.  Carlson advised that his tech order indicated they would not launch.  Carlson, to this day denies any knowledge of UFO reporting’s, however, he could not state what caused the malfunction.

There are a lot of gaps and loopholes in the stories on both sides.  According to Congress.org , Representative Martin Heinrich of New Mexico stated, “One reason for this is the unfortunate fact that during a period of financial insecurity, those organizing this discussion -- Robert Salas, co-author of "Faded Giant", and Robert Hastings, author of "UFOs and Nukes" -- intend to pay for this farce utilizing the donations of other Americans.”  A very likable explanation, however, it has no supporting base or factor.  In fact, it goes to show that Heinrich didn’t even give Salas a chance, nor the American public. That’s correct; this statement was before the release of information.

Salas has provided documentation of the incident which has been deemed declassified, which of course, contains only the information that is deemed unclassified.  Is this just another hoax looking for a quick pay, or just another incident that could lead to probable extraterrestrial life?  You decide.

Meanwhile, check out readings on Project Blue Book , which covers UFO encounters with the military from 1952 until it was ceased in 1970.  It’ll have you thinking beyond.

I suppose the government is keeping us in the dark for our own good, right? Right. "What you don't know it can not hurt you", right? Right again!

Both Bob Salas and I have Col. Walter Figel on audiotape saying that a UFO was indeed reported to him by security personnel at Echo Flight. My article "The Echo/Oscar Witch Hunt", posted at UFO Chronicles, has links to those tapes so that anyone can actually listen to the facts. James Carlson's countless lies about no UFOs being reported at Malmstrom AFB's missile sites in 1967, in the face of ironclad evidence to the contrary, demonstrates how just how delusional he really is.

Petra, it always seems for our own good, doesn't it? The truth will come out sooner or later.

Mr. Hastings, after reading numerous articles involving Carlson, I can see that there is something missing. There still is no explanation for the malfunction. Carlson himself stated that it is unheard of for all 10 to go down at once. Engineers from Boeing even went to test all the electronics and still came up empty handed.

Like I stated before, anything declassified is just that. The declassified part. I do hope this and more incidents come out.

Another brilliant hub SentMe. I have no answer as to whether or not some form of extra-terrestrials do or do not exist. But I do know that if our government had some information about the Truth in the matter, they would do all they could to keep it form the public. Saying something like; "well we don't want to cause a panic before we even know what we are dealing with." You retards you'll never know what your dealing with cause you don't care!

Eli,

Thank you as always for your comments. :D My friend today kinda hit me from left field with this theory. "What if the government knows they exist and the reason why they don't want us to know is it could void religion as whole. Religion is control and therefore that control could be lost." It kinda blew my mind when he said that. Of course, in most scriptures, it pictures angels as majestic beings and not of this world. Built in the image of man, yet not of man.

Makes me wonder what is held in the Vatican library.

However, I will rely on God as my mentor. If there be any type of other lifeforms, then they too are created in his image.

The evidence is mounting to support the existence of intelligent life either within or outside the boundaries of our Galaxy.

If you take a really good look at certain undisputed facts I think everyone would come to the logical conclusion that we are probably not alone in the universe.

Excellent Hub

I like to write about UFOs, purported ancient astronauts and ETs. Anyway, I hadn't heard about the aforementioned UFO incidents - they seem to happen all the time, don't they? Like Bigfoot, until we get our hands on one, there's no proof of existence, just speculation. Nevertheless, these subjects are lots of fun to think about. Later!

I wanted to let you and your readers know that I’ve recently posted a new article on scrib’d entitled “Echo Flights of Fantasy – Anatomy of a UFO Hoax”. It’s located at http://www.scribd.com/doc/42303580/Echo-Flights-of and I’d like to know what you think. It’s written as a general article regarding the Echo Flight hoax that’s been perpetrated since 1995, but since this hoax was only made possible as a result of the UFO rumors that were associated with the original event in 1967, I particularly wanted to account for them. I have no doubt that the conclusions I’ve reached explain everything sufficently. I’ve been fortunate enough to have been granted access to a number of personal records regarding the suspicions voiced by NICAP investigators at the time, and examined with all the benefits of hindsight, they make it very clear how those persistent yet inexact and poorly defined rumors came about and why they have continued to have any influence at all, even though they were entirely baseless, irrational, and lacking an appropriate foundation. It also makes very clear that the poor research conducted by UFO “investigators” and “analysts” since that time is the only reason such rumors have been given any “second wind” at all. If it wasn’t for such people and their persistent refusal to look at all of the evidence available, nothing about the Echo Flight Incident would ever have been condsidered “memorable”, let alone one of the top ten UFO incidents supported by the most reliable evidence. Thank you — and I hope you read it; like everything else I’ve made available in this field, it’s free.
